At CastleHills, we are taking climate change seriously and have pledged to reduce the amount of energy we use over the course of the current academic year,. As part of our ongoing learning, we have created a team of pupils who have shown an interest in our environment and the effect we have on it. The team is made up of 6 pupils from year 5, they have called themselves the Eco-Knights and are ready to face the challenges that reducing our carbon footprint will bring. The Eco-Knights will not only be involved in Energy Sparks but will be actively involved with other sustainability projects around the school. These include; working with Yorkshire Water and the SUDS team to create planters in an attempt to stop the flooding of our school grounds, and working with Doncaster Council on the Tiny Forest program, with aims of creating 2 orchards this year. Although in its early stages, the pupils have shown a keen interest in reducing energy and we hope to develop projects across our school delivering our message of saving energy and our environment.
