On every Monday moving forward, we will champion the concept of a low carbon diet by initiating a 'Meat-free Monday' campaign. The aim of this campaign is not only to embrace healthier eating habits but also to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment among our students and staff.
The campaign will start by raising awareness around the carbon footprint associated with meat production and its impact on our planet. Through interactive sessions and engaging visual content, we will inform our school community about how shifting to a plant-based diet for even one day a week can significantly contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Our caterers have been actively engaged in this process. In collaboration with them, we've worked to create an exciting and nutritionally balanced menu that incorporates a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and plant-based proteins. This has been designed to ensure the meals remain familiar and appealing, while also introducing our students to new flavours and food items.
To ensure that the campaign is a success, we will need the full support of our school community. To engage the students, we will organise various fun and educational activities. These might include cooking demonstrations, nutrition workshops, and even a 'design your own meat-free menu' competition.
We understand that change is not always easy and for some, a meat-free diet might be a new concept. Therefore, we will make sure that we provide ample resources for both students and parents to understand the benefits and ease of adapting to a meat-free diet.
The end goal of our 'Meat-free Monday' campaign is to make our school community more mindful of their dietary choices and their impact on the environment. Our hope is that this awareness will transcend beyond our school walls and inspire our students and staff to incorporate more sustainable practices into their daily lives.
