On 23 October, just before half-term, Year 6 students have been chosen from a group of volunteers to form this year’s Eco Committee.
The Eco Committee is working with Mrs. Gibbons/Mrs. Jones Year 4 class to reduce energy use in all areas of school. The Eco Committee has created a poster challenge for Year 4 students. Posters should include one energy saving tip, ideas include:
- Turning the lights off when you leave a room
- Monitoring if all lights are required of if some lights can be turned off, with a few left on, for some activities
- Opening the window blinds for natural light if it is a sunny day
- Closing doors and windows so heat doesn’t escape outside, when what we really want to heat is the inside of school
Two energy monitors will be chosen for each classroom. The children will also be responsible for monitoring other areas of the school on a rotating basis (eg the office, meeting areas, kitchen, dining hall). "Well done” and “reminder - turn it off” notes that they can leave as part of their energy spot checks.
