Pupils in Seagull class measured and recorded temperatures around the school.
We talked about temperature, what it means, how it is measured and how it can be controlled. We investigated, by interviewing the caretakers, what the temperature is in school. We found out that the classrooms are kept at 22 degrees celcius even though the recommendation is 18 degrees, because of the type of school we are. We designed posters to display outside our classroom to inform people about the best temperatures for our school.
Pupils loved debating whether or not we needed to adjust the classroom thermostats to conserve energy, or stick to the guidelines for our school. This provoked some great questions and healthy discussions.
