The eco councillors from year 5 & 6 checked all the outside doors from corridors and classrooms. They checked for draughts with a tissue to see if the draught was big enough to move the tissue. The more the tissue fluttered, the bigger the draught.
This is what we found:
EYFS doors - good seal but crack in window. No draughts
Yr 1 doors - Good seal no draughts.
Yr 2 - Good seal with no draughts.
Library door - severe draught. A visible gap down the middle of the door.
Yr 3 doors - Good seal at the bottom but some draught at the top edges.
Yr 4 doors - Good seal with no draughts.
Yr 4 Corridor door - small draught detected in middle joint.
Hall door - Small draught at the middle. One pane of glass cracked and side window had been left open.
Reception door - Severe draft through very large gap at bottom of door. We could easily fit a pencil in the gap. There were also gaps between the doors and the side frames. This was the door with the biggest draught problems.
Eco centre - Door seals good. No draughts on front door. Very slight draughts at top of back door.
Year 6 doors - Door seals good with no draughts.
Year 5 doors - Door seals good with no draughts. The doors had been left open whilst the class was at PE so there was lots of heat escaping.
