Our gas boiler is switched off during the summer.  We do not have heating on during the holidays as the caretaker always turns off the boiler.
The boiler is then set on a timer so the heating comes on - after October half-term - from 6:15-10am, and 2-3pm in the afternoon.  There is scope to have the heating set to morning only.
